Discussion Precautions needed to be taken with Mi Band 4

After bricking several devices I wanna Share you all about the precautions needed to be taken while customising MiBand4

Precautions regarding resource customising;
1. Never resize the xx.png containing in the resource file.

2. Never edit the header.json file in the resource file.(will cause brick)
3. Always save you png in 8-bit
Open your new .png in photoshop go to save as- save for web- png 8 and then save your Image

Precautions regarding Firmware:
*No advices for it because firmware is uneditable.
But still you all need to take some precautions


1. Be aware of flashing beta firmwares(note: If you are flashing resources flash it at your own risk no one will be responsible for it try flashing it by notify and fitness.)

Precautions regarding Font:
*Generally fonts do not brick your band but still use tested fonts and be aware too.


Resources/Firmware and conformity:
Please be very sure of flashing correct firmware and corresponding resources to it.

Can I save the images in png 8 without using photoshop? Is there any other editor that can do this? Cause I don't have photoshop.😥

U can do it online by using online 8 bit converter and u can use paint too or other wise you can customise the header.json but chances of bricks will be high

the best editor is paint.net its a free software
Thanks. By the way, is tinypng.com right for compressing images? But I don't see any description where it says wheather the image is now in png 10 form or png 8.

Another precaution is that you should always keep a screen protector on the mi band 4 as it is very likely to get scratch with time

No this is not really a precaution because everyone do not rough use it many users handle it with care or only use it for development and testing like me :) and i have mentioned the software related precaution here

I'm trying to pack resources that I made, they are all in 8-bits minus some that have transparency that use 32 bits. When I pack the files it hangs at index 3 saying that the image has 8bit or more. I've also unpacked the stock resources and they all have 32-bit files but if I pack them it works. Why does this happen?
