Mi fit might have updated your watch to v96(v1.0.9.66). Once the mi fit updates the band, the band comes back to the default one. So you have to ask the developer to update it to v96 or wait for him to do it himself

Go on mi fit app and tap on your band name go down and check frimeware version and match that no. To version given in list

Well, the risk is basically bricking your mi band!
by brick your device means that if you flash an incorrect file, you device will stop working. But resources/themes don't usually brick device until the developer has messed with the header.json file.
And for this theme, i think there must not be any problem as many people have used it including me but make sure that you flash the correct resource version with the respective firmware and yes, do everything at your own risk ?
