you can simply continue using the modified apk with a Mi account, and when Italian is officially available you can switch back to the official app ! same thing for french, it works perfectly with the apk
I have a CN non-NFC version, currently in french thanks to your .apk mod, and the firmware is v1.0.5.22 ! so I guess there is no split after all.
It seems that some functions are activated or not depending on the hardware version, but with the same firmware ? ex : the CN no-nfc has the alipay QR...
a bit late but yes my CN standard version (no nfc) can activate alipay with a QR code by swiping left (music control is on the right swipe) or going in the menu. but it's useless outside of China I think, nobody uses that in Europe at least.

I had this issue when trying to login with my google account on the custom apk. I created a Mi account and had no issue to login. Previously I had logged in the official app with google account before desinstalling, maybe it is related !
It seems that the official firmware already supports spanish and russian, so I hope we'll get french as well soon, meanwhile the modified apk works well for me.
