Question Cannot connect to friend

I cannot connect to a friend again since a couple of weeks. I use mi-app on iphone. Before no problem, now we cannot connect. Tried everything, remove app and install again, restarted iphone, etc. Strange thing is, I see my fiend and his id, but the button " following" is grey.
What to do?

Maybe he deleted mi fit or changed his mi fit account
