Question Hangouts Notification Repeating

I am using the factory firmware and Mi Fit app on an HTC One M9.

Whenever I get a Google Hangouts message the band gets a notification. If tap the notification on my phone shade or go to Google Hangouts without swiping away that notification from the phone shade, my band gets a repeat notification.

Any way to fix this?

I've deactivated notifications in the original mifit app and installed mi band tools from the playstore
