Dear Alex do you have some band 2 or band 3 ? For me in my left hand I'm wearing a Casio edifice with stainless brucelet and at the right hand the band 3. I wear both together one in each hand and believed to match too much together. I won't some band which is slim and discreet and fits with a regular watch. Believe me the size of band 3 - hey+ is special what I won't small and beauty. For me I don't like the bip or honor.. If I don't have a classic watch I will buy a big smart watch like Amazfit 2!!
Yes I have a mi band 3 and I was just asking to know your opinion because if I had to change mi band 3 for another probably would be honor band, because I have a Honor 9 and some bands already have a color display.

I think that people that already have mi band 3 dont need to buy the hey+, it only haves a bigger screen color(and the nfc, depending of the version you have) the rest is the same, not to talk about the price, that should double.
Remenbering this is my opinion, ill like to know yours. ???
If it ever going to be send, I will make a review between the Mi band 3 and the Hey+. I'm using the Mi band 3 at the moment, but I have orderd the Hey+

Hey - new to the forum. I don't own a smart band or watch at all. I am planning to buy the Hey+. I live in Canada, so the NFC on this device will not work here for Google Pay at present.

However ... if I buy the band, I *THINK* it is technically possible that it COULD be upgraded (through a firmware and/or software update) so eventually it COULD support Google Pay here.

If that's impossible, or if it's possible but highly unlikely, then I might just buy the Mi Band 3 for half the price.

I am curious what you guys think:
  1. Is it technically possible? (I think Xiaomi support told me Yes).
  2. Do you they it's likely to happen?
(The other thing is, I could just get the Hey+ anyway. There might be some uses for the NFC even if Google Pay never works. It's the difference between about $35 (Mi Band 3) versus $80 (Hey+) for me. Not a fortune.)

Thanks. Great site/forum. Just starting to discover how cool Xiaomi is! (I think).

Just FYI the NFC function DOES work but only for access cards that operate in specific frequencies. I use it daily and it is the main reason i purchased the Hey+. Only the Mi band 3 (NFC version) offers this as well as far as i know.
What you suggested about modifying the firmware to support Google Pay is unlikely since it would require a lot of work by skilled programmers and i don't think it will have that many sales to get them involved. Maybe after an international version is out and IF is becomes a huge success.

htheod Thanks for the feedback !
You're probably right. The international version is out (I received mine today), so we'll see if it's worth their effort to add that functionality. As a programmer myself, it seems strange to me that it would take a lot of extra (or difficult) programming to add the ability to deal with other frequencies. But then I don't know much about either the hardware or software implementation of NFC, so I could be WAYYyyyy wrong :)
No big loss - it would be (really) nice to have Google Pay on my wrist, but there's a few nice things on the Hey+ vs Mi Band 3, and I may be able to still use the NFC to play around with NFC tags. The programmer in me is curious.
