I have build flashrom circuit like this one but on my schematic the pins 17 and 18 are swaped. And I use 12MHz oscilator on OSCI input. The windows 7 recognise ftdi2232HL chip and I have modified pcb to this schematic. But it does not recognise any of two spi flash chips I have tried (windond 25Q32 and 25Q80).
Any suggestion?

Replacing "serial input" with "serial ouput" can be a problem. Try to switch, there is no risk of damage to the device. What control software do you use? Special drivers may be required (described in the thread).

Thank you for suggestion.

The control software is flashrom and is downloaded from here becos it uses spi protocol and is compiled only for FTDI2232H chip.

Yes, the flashrom is only compiled for the FTDI2232H chip. I compiled directly for Windows because I could not find the existing compiled version for Windows for the FTDI2232H chip.

I needed this program and programator for eprom which was in a Blaupunkt TV so I could put new software on a chip cos obviously program data has become currupt. So thank you for succha great work you have made compiling this program only for FTDI2232H chip.

@rendal What other programmers apart from FTDI2232H or FT2232HL can be used? Just have the adbus0~5 pins and the correct voltage outputs? I'm looking for something very cheap and basic enough to program this chip. Thanks in advance and sorry for my bad english.

If you write the Firmware to the microcontroller and the operating software for the PC, you can use any microcontroller with the required number of I / O pins.
If you are wondering which chip can be used with the service SW mentioned in the article, then only the FTDI2232H chip can be used for this ready-made solution.
