Don't install Mi Fit from Google Play. It will always install Original Firmware. Keep Custom Mi Fit in your phone.

But the first page on this forum says:
Installation instruction is quite easy – just download specially crafted Mi Fit APK, uninstall official Mi Fit, install the custom one and your firmware will be updated automatically! After that you can use any Mi Fit you want.

Do you have a band with the NFC? If so, only the MiFit mod will help you. Disable MiFit auto-update in PlayMarket, because the official supports only Chinese and English.

You can install the "Master for Mi Band" app and let it run together with the mi-fit app.
In Master for Mi band you can set English as language.
It's not ideal, but it works for me, my phone is in Dutch, so the Mi band defaults to Chinese. With Master for Mi Band i can set it to English.
I'll use it like this until the Dutch firmware is available.

I did it, and MI band was in English for a while, but it turns to Chinese somehow again. Than I need to start Master Mi again to have it in English. Is there a way to have it in English all the time?

Looks like it's best to use the modified Mi-Fit now.
If you want to use mi band master you have to keep it running in the background.

use this app (notify and fitness for miband)
and in this app change miband language to france or russia(under tools tab)
and in app setting checked rtl language check box
